Marion's Main Street is again further brightened by the installation this week of an attractive new neon sign of Obley's Firestone store. The sign is of modern design and flashes on and off.

Miss Margaret Ann Richardson of Hoxie will succeed Eyleen Graham as the Marion County Home demonstration agent. She was hired Saturday at a meeting of the county Farm Bureau board.

Carl Elling, H.M. Hauser, and Dr. R.R. Melon were in Cottonwood Falls Friday evening to attend a meeting of the bylaws committee of the newly-formed Flint Hills Hereford Association.

Evidence that a long wait is about over, and good news to an increasing number of residents at the county lake, are the light poles going in this week along the northwest side. They are being put in by the Kansas Power an Lights, and the company hopes to have electric service available there within a very short time.

The annual May festival is scheduled for Thursday afternoon at the Bown-Corby School. Miss Jeannine Williamson is the May Queen. Miss Mildred Pray, Miss Ruth Jo Willming, Miss Janice Dummermuth, Miss Marguerite Jenike and Miss Maurine Hawbecker are the teacher in charge of the event.

Thirteen students of Highland School and their teacher, Mrs. Harry Kleiber, held their last day of school picnic in Marion Wednesday and visited various Marion business houses. The students were Alice, Irene, Rosalie and Elaine Bezdek, Hannah and Henry Keil, Carol, Mary Ellen and Earl Bielefeld, Maxine Tajchman, Donna and Orlin Chizek, Roger Dvorak and Albert Kristek.

An improvement in the appearance of the front part of Richardson's grocery has been accomplished by the recent addition of a new fruit and vegetable rack.

Dr. Wesson, Miss Naomi Wesson and Miss Helen Loveless, all of Wichita, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Loveless Sunday afternoon. They were en route home after attending a physiotherapy meeting at Topeka during the weekend.

Mr. and Mrs. Willard Hague of Peabody are the parents of a son, Donald Wayne. County commissioner Ed Nicklaus is the grandfather.
