Sgt. Kenneth Anderson, radioman and gunner aboard a bomber, failed to return May 10 from a mission over Austria, according to word received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Anderson, former residents of Marion, now of Mountain View, California. Kenneth arrived in Italy some two months ago. His 21st birthday occurred on the day he was reported missing.

The community Vacation Bible School opens next Monday. Teachers and workers in the school include Mary Lou Williams, Pauline Keazer, Vera Belle Province, Nancy Colburn, Wanda Hannaford, Mrs. Leslie Powell, Jeanne Carpenter, Mrs. George Miser, Frances Nelson, Mary Louise Tibbetts, Thelma Pierce, Mrs. Leo Balf, Arlene Pierce, LaVerna Knight, Norma Jean Amick and Rev. C.C. Gossen.

Patricia Kruse attended a "close of school" party Friday afternoon at the home of Marlys Rupp. Six little girls enjoyed games and the lunch served by Mrs. Rupp. Each guests received a toy lantern filled with red candy hearts as favors.

Edward J. Costello of Tampa was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Army of the United States upon successful completion of the Officer Candidate Course at The Infantry School at Fort Benning, Ga. Lt. Costello is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Costello of Tampa.

Dawna Summervill entertained Tuesday evening with an informal porch party. Those present were Patsy Harris, Anne Burkholder, Patsy Brose, Dennis Youk, Bill Greason, Bob Reinke, Max Merrill, and Dawna.

Mrs. Wallis Hoch and daughter, Anna Lou, left Monday for a short visit at Wichita and Anthony before leaving for their new home at Gresham, Oregon, where Mr. Hoch is now located.

Mrs. Alvin Propp entertained Tuesday afternoon in honor of her daughter, Wanda's, seventh birthday. Those present were Marilyn Reh, Janice Meisner, Donna Williams, Madora Richmond, Carol Krispense, Patricia Kruse, Janet Riffel, and LaVon Bell.
