Lt. Niles Siebert, 26, pilot of a Navy dive bomber in the South Pacific, was killed in action in the performance of his duty and in the service of his country, according to a telegram received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Siebert, of Canada, Wednesday morning. No further details were given.

A truck carrying five German prisoners and their U.S. Army guard overturned on Highway 50N four miles west of Marion Saturday afternoon. The guard was the only one of the six occupants who was seriously injured. The men were from the Peabody prison camp. All prisoners sustained only minor cuts and bruises.

John Seifert has purchased the Mario Recreation Parlor from W.S. McKibben who is forced to retire from the business because of poor health.

Betty Frazier very successfully surprised her mother, Mrs. Maurie Frazier on her birthday last Saturday evening. The following guests greeted her on her return from work that evening: Mrs. Milo Pierce, Mrs. Marvin Burkholder, Mrs. Clarence Matthews, Mrs. Leonard Perry and Mrs. Claude Province. Homemade ice cream and birthday cake were served after which all enjoyed visiting.

Those airplanes that cut didoes over Marion of late were piloted by hometown boys all right enough, but, each time, the lads were just a wee bit off their prescribed course so their identities must remain a secret with their families.

Mr. and Mrs. Jake Wunsch announce the marriage of their daughter, Helen, to Mr. Martin Jantz, son of Mr. and Mrs. P.T. Jantz, of Hesston, July 24 at the Christian church parsonage, Rev. J. Leo Balf performing the ceremony.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hartke, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Hartke and family, and Mrs. Al Reiman, all of Lincolnville, spent Sunday in Hutchinson at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Togszus. Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Hartke and baby are staying at the Togszus home. This little lady was born July 13 and has been given the name of Carol Ann. Mother and baby are doing well.
