Ezra Bernhardt and Bill Utting have purchased the Marion Farm Equipment Company, John Deere dealers, it was announced this week. They will continue the business started early this year by Gene Rafferty at the same location on the corner of First and Main, under the new firm name of Bernhardt and Utting Implement Co.

Announcement is made this week by Paul Seifert of the opening October 13 of the Farm and Home Electric Co. under the management of J.J. Thiel. The business will be located in the former Marion Review building west of the post office.

Mr. and Mrs. D.H. Long of Kansas City, Mo., purchased the Paris Cleaners from Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Gerstenkorn last week and took possession Monday. Long, his wife and children, Connie Sue, 7, and Sandy Kay, 2, are seeking living quarters in Marion.

Johnny Shahan, MAM3/c, has sent home a fragment of wood from the deck of the USS Missouri. He writes that the historic vessel was brought into Pearl Harbor and a large section of the deck upon which the Japanese surrender ceremonies took place was removed for preservation in an American museum. Navymen were allowed to board and go through her while she was in harbor.

Mrs. T.B. Matlock held the first session of her pre-school children's speaking class on Monday.

The following officers were elected by the seventh grade in recent meetings: C.R Moulton, president; Janice Meisner, vice president; Ernestine Good, secretary; Merle Brunner, treasurer. Sixth grade officers are: Billy McKibben, president' Jim Parsons, vice president; Mary Margaret Hannaford, secretary; John Newcomer, treasurer.
