The $70,000 Grumman Hellcat which the board of education bought for $100 to be used in the aeronautics class laboratory, will be flown in from Clinton, Okla., Friday morning by Major Elmer Hollar, who is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hollar, while on leave.

Three people, who have never been in the air before, took their maiden flights this week from the Marion Municipal Airport. Two were Marion's older residents. They are Mrs. J.E. Brodhead and Ed Campbell. The other, Mrs. J.E. Tibbetts, is the mother of two boys who became seasoned fliers during the war.

Mrs. Francis Roberts invited eight boys to a party Jan. 12 to help her son, Paul Wesley, celebrate his ninth birthday. Boys invited were Allen Dean Harms, Robert Mehlinger, Laurence Griggs, Bob Hiebert, Verlin Gene Meier, Bob Parsons, Stanley Ewert, and John Williams.

The marriage of Miss Pauline Gertrude Spachek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T.W. Spachek of Pilsen, to Mr. William F. Schimpf, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred H. Schimpf of Marion, was solemnized Jan. 8 at St. John's Nep. Catholic Church, Pilsen.

Bud Hannaford entertained a number of his friends at a hamburger fry Jan. 12 to celebrate his birthday. Guests included Howard Crandall, teacher; Max Merrill, Ezra Helmer, Monty Frazier, Junior Powell, Kent Richmond, Tim Burkholder, C.R. Moulton, John Newcomer, Bob Reinke, Howard Mehlinger, Kerns Allen, and Bill Carpenter of Topeka.

Mary Margaret Hannaford entertained with a slumber party at her home Jan. 11 to celebrate her birthday. Guests were Juanita Ford, Patricia Henry, Roberta Newsom, Janice Meisner, and Sarabel Wolf.
