Dr. James Thomas Moffitt, 53, dentist and leader in Tampa, died Wednesday evening in the Veteran's Hospital in Wichita, where he had been for the past 10 days.

Albert Williams, Home Oil Company owner, was elected president of the Marion Chamber of Commerce at the regular meeting Monday evening. Frank Hollar was elected vice president and Dr. R.R. Melton, Ira Newcomer, H.H. Johnsmeyer, Ben Meier and David W. Wheeler Jr. were named to the board of directors.

Ruth Byram invited the following girls to a party at her home Dec. 3 to celebrate her 14th birthday: Joan Bell, Lucy Sandwell, Lois Kelsey and June Schlotz.

At the Junior High chapel service Nov. 30, Nora Zeller had the devotions and Roger Ireland led the flag salute. Special numbers consisted of a piano solo by Ernestine Good and a cornet solo by Donna Clair Miesse. Guest speaker was Marion mayor, John Gardner.

Francis E. Hungerford, Grand Senior Warden of the Grand Encampment of IOOF, is being honored with a reception at Wichita Tuesday evening.

Technician Fifth Grade James S. Kline, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry R. Kline, Marion, and former Kansas State College student, is now attending Shrivenham American University in England where the second two months term opened with an enrollment of more than 4,000 soldier students. A member of the 4th Armored Division, T/5 Kline is studying advertising and marketing. He has been overseas nine months.
