S/Sgt. Orville B. Poppe, son of Albert Poppe of Lincolnville, was killed in action November 26 according to word received from the War Department this week. He was in the infantry, serving in the 4th Division under General Hodges.

Identical triplet boys were born to Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Winter of the Youngtown neighborhood this morning (Thursday). The multiple birth was entirely unexpected. They weighed 4 pounds, 4 pounds 5 ounces, and 4 pounds 8 ounces. According to Dr. R.R. Melton, the attending physician, all are strong babies, but the two smallest were placed in an incubator as a precautionary measure. Only single births have occurred in the Marion Hospital prior to this morning.

Pvt. Louis Vinduska is missing in action in Germany, since November 23, according to word received Monday by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Vinduska. Pvt. Vinduska is the second of their three sons in the service. He was inducted in April 1943 and shipped overseas in August 1944. He saw service in the infantry in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany.

Twenty-four Boy Scouts and their leaders were in Wichita Friday and Saturday for the scout rally and circus. Scouts attending were Max Merrill, Wayne Kline, Junior Powell, Kerns Allen, Bill Carpenter, Tim Burkholder, Bud Hannaford, Monty Frazier, LeRoy Roberts, Forrest Kelsey, Marion Hett, Virgil Winter, Dale Klassen, Keith Kelsey, Earl Grimes, Charles Propp, Don Van Buren, Howard Mehlinger, Elton Petersen, Bob Reinke, Bill Greason, Dean Hansen, and Kent Richmond.

The Don Fisher family came to Marion six years ago from Towanda. Since that time Mr. Fisher has been employed in the Marion National Bank. He recently accepted a Civil Service position as administrative assistant statistician in the Army Air Forces and began work Saturday at Wichita. Mrs. Fisher will join him in Wichita as soon as suitable housing can be found. Their daughter, Kathryn Fisher, is a cadet nurse in training at Wesley Hospital in Wichita.
