The nine-room house, one-car garage, chicken house, small building, and coal shed on the site where the community hospital will be built in Marion are offered for sale to the highest bidder. Sealed bids on all the structures as a unit or on each building separately may be left with John E. Wheeler or Walter Siebert at the Farmers and Drovers Bank.
Representatives of the section of the county around Hillsboro, Lehigh and Durham met Monday with the county board of school reorganization in the office of the country superintendent to draw up a plan of school reorganization in that territory.
Norma Jean Amick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert N. Amick, Marion, was selected to sing the soprano solos in a presentation of Handel's "Messiah" by the Oratorio Society, 100-voice chorus at Graceland College, Lamoni, Iowa.
One of the older businesses in Marion, the Sanitary Market, changed ownership this week. It was announced by Mr. and Mrs. Clive Jarvis, who have owned and operated the business for the past 25 years. Milt and Art Miller, brothers of Mrs. Jarvis are the purchasers. Ed Sandwell will assist them in operating the business.
Miss Ella Meier, Marion, is a member of the a capella choir at Bethany College, Lindsborg, which was featured in a special Christmas concert in the auditorium of Presser Hall Dec. 16. Miss Meier also appeared as a member of the Madrigal Singers who presented a group of numbers.
Jack Adams, who was seriously injured in a car wreck Oct. 28, was able to be brought to his home east of town Tuesday evening from Axtell Christian Hospital, Newton.
The annual Sub Deb Christmas formal party was a gay occasion at the Ed Burkholder home Dec. 21. The home was decked with snow scenes, pine, a beautiful Christmas tree and gorgeous poinsettias. The group enjoyed a gift exchange and each Sub-Deb presented her escort with a bow tie.
Mr. and Mrs. James Conyers announce the engagement of their daughter, Louise Ann Conyers, to Daniel R. Grubb, son of Mrs. Gertrude Grubb of Wichita. No wedding date has been announced.
