A pear tree named Harriet 82 years ago in honor of Mrs. Harriet Farr's birth is blooming once again where it stands beside the barn on what was formerly the Billings place, now owned by Dave Bill Ehrlich. Mrs. Farr's father, Silas Locklin, was planting the tree when he was called to the house by the news of the daughter's arrival one day in February. When he went back to finish his work he christened the tree Harriet and so it has been designated through the 82 years of its life.
