Marion County lambs places first, second and fourth May 17 at the Kansas Lamb School held in Kansas City. First and second were awarded on entries by Johnsmeyer and Jost and fourth on an entry by Wesley Summervill.

A fire of undetermined origin completely destroyed the roof of the J.L. Wright home at 1002 Denver this Monday morning. Fortunately most of the household goods and furnishings were taken from the house and saved from fire or water damage.

V.J. Lanman announced this week the sale of his jewelry and watch repair business to Orrin Reeve and Dora Klaus of Kansas City, effective June 1st.

Eleven of the 40 seniors graduated from Marion High School Tuesday night averaged grades of 95 or above for their four years work. Three students, Dorothy Abel, Norma Jean Amick and Betty Tiemeier averaged 97. Second honors went to Jeanne Carpenter, LaVerna Knight and Suzanne Wheeler, who tied with an average grade of 96 throughout high school. The Balfour award for scholarship, loyalty and achievement was presented to LaVerna Knight.

Mrs. W.A. Henry honored her daughter, Patricia, at a party May 15 in celebration of her 12th birthday. Guests included the girls of the sixth grade and their teacher, Miss Boeken, Mary Margaret Hannaford, Juanita Ford, Millie Lou Matthews, Jessie Jewett, Marilyn Richmond, Peggy Weibert, Sarabel Wolf, Vera Johnson, Patricia McCarty, Carol Schlehuber, Virginia Winter and Patricia's brother, Gregory Henry.

Mrs. William Burkholder left for Abilene Tuesday afternoon to assume her duties as librarian there. Mrs. Jack Burkholder and Mrs. Jack Summerville drove her to Abilene.

Paul Hett recently received his Bachelor of Divinity degree from the Evangelical Theological Seminary at Naperville, Ill. He and his wife have been visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Hett and family. At the Kansas Conference last week he received his first appointment to the Hanover-Throop churches.
