A memorial service will be held Sunday in remembrance of Pvt. Kenneth W. Brunner, 18, who died May 15 on the battlefield of Mindanao, Philippine Island. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Brunner, he is the first battle casualty in the Ramona community.

Grant Winne, Marion lumberman since 1915, died Tuesday after being stricken with a cerebral thrombosis shortly after noon Tuesday.

Midwest Mattress Company announces this week that due to shortage of ticking and material they will be temporarily closed. The factory will remain in Marion and will reopen just as soon as material and springs are again available.

Complimenting Miss Florence Irene King, an August bride-to-be, Miss Suzanne Wheeler is entertaining this evening, Thursday, with a formal dinner party to be served in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John E. Wheeler. Those enjoying the evening include Miss King, Mary Helen King, Jeanne Carpenter, Mildred Garrison, Eileen Hoover, Annabelle Rees, Mary Alice Rees, Jean Knight, Mary Ann Barrett, Peggy Gerstenkorn, Joan Wight, Anne Burkholder, Nancy Colburn, Corrine Nelson, Barbara Lea Knight, Mrs. Ed Burkholder, Mrs. Randolph Carpenter, Mrs. Roscoe King, Mrs. O.R Brooker of Newton, Miss Wheeler and Mrs. Wheeler.

The second annual Farmers' and Stockmen's Roundup will be held August 30 at the Peabody city park. A big barbecue and watermelon feed is being planned. A small charge of 50 cents per plate has been decided upon. Nelson H. Poe, Peabody, is the general chairman.
