Rehearsals are under for "Pep Parade" the local talent show being sponsored by the Community Guild to be presented Sept. 19 and 21 for the benefit of the Community Hospital. Jerry Heath pays the part of Gussie Peck. Her husband Henry, is played by Harry Propp and their daughter, Judy, by Donna Powell. Others in the cast are Max Dunn, Keith Kelsey, Avis Faulk, Louise Blackim, Coleen Vogel, Donna Hobein and Joan Wight.

According to an advance schedule of the itinerary of Frank Carlson, Republican candidate for governor, he will be in Marion Sept. 16 for a dinner meeting at the Green Parrot and night meeting in the courtroom.

Plans are under to create at Marion a permanent organization to provide a modern, well-lighted up-to-date field for baseball and other athletic activities. This new enterprise will be called the Marion Athletic Association.

Mrs. Roger Thatch entertained a number of little folks at a party Sept. 6 in celebration of her daughter, Judy's ninth birthday. Her mother, assisted by Mrs. Ezra Bernhardt, served ice cream and birthday cake to Judy, Karen Brodhead, Ann Davies, Judy Coons, Billie Jean Herbert, Vicki Black, Carmen Siebert, Carolyn Merrill, Carol Miser, Barbara McDaris, Carol Jean Allen, Susan Thiel and Rosemary Ollenberger.

S/Sgt. Claudine Dixon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claud Dixon, is at Camp Stoneman, California, awaiting transportation to Yokohama, Japan, Gen. Douglas McArthur's headquarters. She expects to be gone a year or more. Her sister, Cpl., Jean Dixon, is en route to the States from her fifth European trip.

Mrs. Lawrence Becker entertained with a picnic at the park Sept. 11 in honor of her daughter, Karen, who was celebrating her eighth birthday. Guests were Karen, Vicki Black, Judy Coons, Betty Ford, Billy Herbert, Linda Johnson, Nancy Keazer, Connie Sue Long, Jeanette Russell, Carmen Siebert, Twila Sherrard, Mayme Swehla, Kay Navrat, Lenore Wheeler, Carol Miser, Miss Janice Dummermuth, Sheryl Becker and Rita Miser.

The marriage of Miss Lois Lorraine Mathiot, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mathiot, and Mr. Alfred A. Chill Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. A.A. Chill, took place Sunday afternoon, September 8, at four o'clock at the Marion Methodist church before approximately 300 relatives and friends.

A full figure photograph of Gailen Ray Broadstreet, aged 3, was chosen from among the many submitted to be hung at the National Photographers Convention in Chicago last week, bringing honor to the Moderne Studio in Marion, Thus a credit is earned for Leslie Broadstreet toward the designation of master photographer.
