The total enrollment in the Marion schools is down by 20 students this term, Joe E. Parsons, superintendent reveals. In 1944, the school contained 406 pupils, this year 386. There are 181 boys and 205 girls enrolled.

Mrs. Edith Collett invited guests for Saturday evening dinner in honor of her grandson, Leon Hayen, S3/C, who is home on furlough. Those invited were Leon, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hayen, Virginia, Marilyn, John and Max, Mrs. Rachel Benbow of Orrenta, Okla., and Mrs. Alice Phillips.

Members of the school board entertained the faculty members at a hamburger fry at the lake Monday evening. They played softball and Les Powell and Frank Hollar took everyone boat riding. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Parsons, Mr. and Mrs. D.B. Jantz, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Wiebe, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Crandall, Mrs. Ralph Bontrager, Miss Gladys Mitchell, Miss Maude Thompson, Miss Millie Thomas, Miss Mildred Pray, Miss Ruth Jo Willming, Miss Julia Campbell, Miss Maureen Hawbecker, Miss Elizabeth Ann Richards, Miss James Dummermuth, Miss Mary Helen Walls, Miss Viola Frick, and Wilbur Melcher. Miss Boeken was unable to be present. Board members and their wives are Mr. and Mrs. James Meisner, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hollar, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Navrat, Mr. and Mrs. Gail Merrill, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Powell, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Siebert and Miss Lydia Schimpf.

Initiated Sunday into the Tampa Knights of Columbus were Frank Tajchman, Patrick Benda, Michael Franta, Emanuel Klenda, Nemisus Tajchman, John Kapaun, Valerian Tajchman and Leonard Tajchman.
