A.T. Campbell, postmaster at the Marion office for the past 10 years, succumbed Tuesday morning to an illness of several months duration.

A new organization, which promises to mean much to athletics in Marion was formed at a meeting in the city building Monday night when the Marion Community Athletic Association was born. The corporation was formed and the charter sent in with Jay Hargett, Roscoe King, Albert Williams, Amos Henry, and Jack Scott, charter signers.

Four men were granted a private license after successfully passing their flying tests Wednesday morning at the municipal airport. Lloyd Watson, junior flight inspector from Wichita, put Alva Thompson, Bill Bryan, Francis Roberts and Jack Summervill through their check rides.

Friday, Sept. 13, was Donna Stenzel's birthday and she had several friends spend the night with her. They were Jerene Heidebrecht, Theodora Longhofer, Evelyn Richmond and Donna Rae Ehrlich. Others present for a picnic were Mr. and Mrs. Ted Longhofer and Donnie and Mr. and Mrs. Milton Stenzel and Naomi.

Mr. and Mrs. Dean Batt left Saturday for Lawrence after a month's honeymoon on the west coast. They will resume their studies at the University of Kansas. Mrs. Batt formerly attended Phillips and Baylor universities. Prior to entering the service, Mr. Batt attended Kansas State College.

Dr. R.R. Melton and Dr. G.J. Goodsheller went to Halstead Saturday afternoon for the funeral of Dr. A.E. Hertzler.

A.J. Heidebrecht, Ira Turner and Mrs. Earl Linn attended a meeting for Kroger employees at the Hotel Broadview in Wichita Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Turner and Mrs. Marion Pierce accompanied them and went shopping during the meeting.

Marilyn Lea Reh celebrated her 10th birthday with a party at her home Wednesday evening, Sept. 18, from 4:15 to 6:00. Favors were paper doll books and refreshments were birthday cake and ice cram. Those invited were Marilyn Lea, Nancy Allen, Diana Herbert, Peggy Hayward, Charlene Youk, Jeannine Williamson, Janet Holub, Ginger Price, Carol Ann Hett, Pearl Seibel, Karen Brodhead, Vicki Black, Carmen Siebert, Janice Hayward and Shirley Tiemeier.

Mrs. Frank Hagans and family moved to Manhattan Tuesday where they will join Mr. Hagans, who has been there since August 15. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Elling moved into the Hagans house, which they purchased recently.
