The Old Settlers' Day afternoon program held in the park was enjoyed by townspeople and many former residents from out of the Community. Principal speaker was Orlie Billings of Blackwell, Oklahoma, who mentioned personalities of an early day in his reminiscences. Short interviews with older residents of Marion was conducted by Judge Jay Hargett.

The First Evangelical Church in Marion will observe the 50th anniversary of the organization of the church in Marion on Sunday, September 30. E.E. Erffmeyer of Kansas City, Mo., pastor from 1911 to 1915 will make the morning address.

Starting Monday, October 1st, the Marion Creamery is starting daily home delivery service of their pasteurized milk, cream, and other dairy products, according to Gordon Wolf, manager. Their phone for delivery information is Bell 164.

Miss Leta Rees was appointed by the city commission Monday evening to complete the unexpired term of Mrs. Homer Reinke as city clerk. Mrs. Reinke, who has served for five and one-half years, resigned effective October 1. Miss Rees has been a part time assistant in the office for some time.

H.H. Johnsmeyer had on display at his office last week a stalk of corn towering 15 feet high. The ears were set on nine feet above the ground. June Jost, who grew it, will have to carry a stepladder along come husking time.

The junior high had its chapel service Wednesday. Janice Meisner gave a reading entitled "Washing." A very interesting talk about the city library and a brief history of Marion County were given by librarian, Lucy Burkholder.
