A turning point again

It's not easy to lose. Whether it's a kid's baseball game or the lottery, nobody wants to lose.

Losing Prairie View will be a tremendous blow to Marion's economy. Not only are we losing a significant number of employees who travel to Marion on a daily basis but we're losing a service. The loss of a service such as community mental health is tough to measure but the impact will be felt.

This shouldn't be the time to blame and point fingers. City of Marion officials probably did everything they could, but the question has to be asked, "Could there have been more?"

This isn't the first business in recent weeks that Marion has lost to our neighbors to the west. What could have been done to foster better communication that might have made that business want to stay?

We, as a community, need to look at these situations and figure out how to prevent them from happening again.
