Accidents

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Norahs R. Grant, 26, McPherson, was westbound on U.S.-56 near milemarker 285 in a 1999 Saturn at 9:15 p.m. May 21 when a deer entered the roadway from a north ditch and was struck. Passengers in the car were Mark Grant, 33, Cheyenne R. Grant, 4, and Shaylyn Grant, 2, all of the same address. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Jim Philpott reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Irene K. Dayhoff, 59, Osage City, was eastbound on U.S.-50 near Remington Road in a 2002 GMC Yukon at 9:45 p.m. May 23 when a deer came from a south ditch. The driver could not avoid the animal. There were no injuries and less than $1,000 in damages, reported Marion County Sheriff Deputy Duane McCarty.

Anthony W. Kinnersley, 26, 405 S. Grant, Marion, was northbound on Eisenhower Drive in a 2001 International 4700 truck at 8:20 a.m. May 24 when he met another vehicle going south in the middle of the road. Kinnersley moved over too far to the right side of the road and went into an east ditch, striking a speed limit sign. The truck was registered to Hiland Dairy Foods Company of Springfield, Mo. Marion Police Officer Robert Soyez reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Suzanne M. Robinson, 42, 506 Park Avenue, Florence, was northbound on U.S.-77 near milemarker 98 in a 2006 Chevrolet Impala at 8:10 a.m. May 25 when a deer came from an east ditch and was struck. Laura Robinson, 13, and Zac Robinson, 14, of the same address, were passengers. Deputy Philpott reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Todd Michael Stultz, 20, 1728 Eagle Road, Hillsboro, was northbound on Falcon near 150th Road in a 1994 Acura Integra at 11:30 p.m. May 25 when a deer came from an east ditch. The driver swerved to miss the deer, hit a guardrail, and flipped the vehicle into a creek. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Marion County Sheriff Deputy Josh Whitwell.

Ronnie J. Makovec, 53, 1865 320th Road, Lincolnville, was westbound on 290th near Pawnee Road in a 1997 Plymouth Voyager at 11:45 a.m. May 27 when a deer came from a south ditch and was struck. Adam Makovec, 9, and Amy Makovec, 11, of the same address, were passengers. Deputy Philpott reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.
