Accidents

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Joel Hesed, 23, Pawnee Rock, was southbound on K-15 near 110th Road in a 1993 Pontiac Bonneville at 6 p.m. Nov. 14 when a deer came from an east ditch and was struck. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Duane McCarty reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Wade Lucas Wilson, 17, 407 170th, Hillsboro, was westbound in a 1985 Chevrolet Silverado pickup on 120th near Falcon Road at 7 p.m. Nov. 14 when a deer came from a south ditch and was struck. The pickup was registered to Jay M. Wilson of the same address. Sherry E. Bosworth, 18, 402 W. Grand, Hillsboro, was a passenger, reported Deputy McCarty.

Harris R. Ewert, 53, 1743 Falcon, Hillsboro, was backing his 2004 GMC Sierra pickup from a garage into an alley between 100 block of South Adams and Jefferson at 1:35 p.m. Nov. 16 and struck a vehicle parked in the alley. The vehicle, a 2005 Chevrolet truck, was owned by GMAC, c/o Cooperative Grain and Supply of Hillsboro. Hillsboro Police Officer David Funk reported there were no injuries and damage was less than $1,000.

Cody James McMillen, 16, 218 S. Washington, Hillsboro, was driving a 1995 Ford Thunderbird at 4:23 p.m. Nov. 17, when the vehicle struck a pedestrian who was crossing Washington Street near A Street. Preston Nelson, 11, 108 E. First Street, Hillsboro, was taken by ambulance to Hillsboro Community Medical Center, reported Hillsboro Assistant Police Chief Jessey Hiebert.

Zane M.L. Obryan, 17, Carlton, was eastbound on 290th near U.S.-56/77 in a 2000 Chevrolet van at 1:45 a.m. Nov. 19 when he lost control, went into a south ditch, turned over on its top, and went through a barbed wire fence. The vehicle was registered to Lonnie I. Obryan of the same address. Passengers were Edward l. Kohman, 17, Hope, Joshua M. Barrett, 18, Hope, Brent N. Potocnik, 19, 248 S. Smith, Lost Springs, Phillip M. Griffith, 17, Burdick, and Benjamin L. Krause, 2910 Bluestem, Lincolnville. Obryan and Kohman were injured but were not transported by ambulance, according to a report by Deputy McCarty.

Shawn Michael Cox, 28, Grinnell, Iowa, was northbound on Ash Street in a 2006 Jeep Liberty Sport at 3:21 p.m. Nov. 19, when the driver swerved to avoid hitting a second vehicle that had pulled out in front of him. Ruby V. Friesen, 81, 1077 190th, Hillsboro, was driving the second vehicle which was a 1998 Buick Century.
