Accidents

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

At 6:15 p.m. Oct. 31, a 1993 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Daniel E. Stuchlik, 28, 1578 270th, Marion, was southbound on K-15 when a deer entered the roadway and was struck by the car. A second deer entered the roadway from a west ditch and ran into the rear fender on the driver's side. The car is registered to Melissa Stuchlik of the home. Damages were less than $1,000 and no injuries were reported by Marion County Sheriff Deputy Josh Whitwell.

At 8:27 p.m. Oct. 31, Shane Allen Svitak, 27, 2855 Sunflower, Marion, driving a 2000 Toyota Echo owned by Jennifer Beck of the home, was northbound on Limestone Road when it struck a cow that was on the roadway facing east. The cow ran away after being struck. Beck, 28, was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Deputy Michael Vineski reported there were no injuries and damages were more than $500.

At 11:29 p.m. Nov. 1, a 1997 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Kendrick D. Campbell, 24, 229 N. Roosevelt, Marion, was eastbound on U.S.-56 when a deer entered the roadway from the south, was struck and killed by the vehicle. There were no injuries and damages were more than $1,000, reported deputy Vineski.

At 8 p.m. Thursday, Earl G. Mueller, 73, 705 S. Coble, Marion, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet 1500 pickup eastbound on 290th Road when a deer entered the roadway from a south ditch and was struck by the vehicle. Undersheriff Randal Brazil reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

At 2:15 a.m. Friday, Kenneth D. Arnhold, 49, 128 N. Lincoln Street, Marion, was southbound on U.S.-56/77 in a 2003 Ford Ranger pickup when he fell asleep and lost control. The vehicle entered a west ditch and overturned. Marion County Undersheriff Randal Brazil reported the driver was injured and was transported by private vehicle to St. Luke Hospital, Marion.

At 11:23 p.m. Friday, the sheriff's department worked an accident that occurred within Marion city limits. A 1999 Ford F-150 pickup driven by Christopher Lee Gadd, 33, 1624 Mustang, Marion, ran into the rear of a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Tena M. Waner, 42, 2152 Strassburg, Marion, near the intersection of Santa Fe Street and K-256. The pickup overturned at least one time. Both drivers were injured and transported by ambulances to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, reported undersheriff Brazil.
