Accidents

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Arnold Duane Mattox, 70, Sacramento, Calif., was westbound on 10th, just west of Vista at 5:30 p.m. May 17. Mattox, driving a 2001 Ford pickup, lost control on the rocks and hit a bridge. He was taken to El Dorado hospital.

Mark C. Lane, 40, McPherson was eastbound on U.S.-56 just west of Chisholm Trail at 8:45 p.m. May 13. A deer entered the roadway from the south ditch and was struck by Lane's 2002 Chevrolet S10. Deputy Josh Whitwell states Lane was not injured.

At 5:59 p.m. Friday a 1985 Chevrolet S-10 pickup driven by Joshua H. Martin, 18, Adair, Okla., was southbound on Nighthawk Road near U.S.-56. Martin failed to yield at the intersection, entered U.S.-56, and was struck by a 1993 Saturn SL2 passenger car driven by Kathryn S. Mayhew, 45, Roeland Park. Mayhew was transported by Marion EMS to St. Luke Hospital. Kansas Highway Patrol investigated the collision.

At 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sharla M. Miller, 26, Hillsboro, was driving a 1998 Oldsmobile passenger car northbound on Indigo Road when she fell asleep. The vehicle drifted in a west ditch and struck a culvert at 100th and Indigo roads, flipped end over end three times coming to rest on its wheels. Miller was transported by Lifeteam helicopter to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. The accident was investigated by Kansas Highway Patrol.
