Accidents

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Ruth A. Bartel, 76, 404 S. Washington, Hillsboro, was driving a 1996 Chevrolet Lumina southbound on Ash Street, Hillsboro, at 7:13 p.m. July 18, when it sideswiped a parked vehicle owned by Gina Schafer, 321 W. Santa Fe, Marion. Hillsboro Police Sergeant Chad Funk reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Austin Darr Hager, 16, 135 N. Freeborn, Marion, was driving a 1993 Honda Civic southbound at 10 p.m. July 23, on Sunflower Road, south of 160th, and passed another vehicle. The driver did not see oncoming traffic, swerved, and rolled the vehicle in a ditch, reported Marion County Sheriff Sergeant Jeff Soyez. The driver received minor injuries.

Mark Bradley Kukuk, 15, 1772 250th, Marion, was eastbound at 5:30 a.m. July 25, in a 2001 Dodge 1500 pickup on 230th, west of Remington, when two deer ran in front of the vehicle from a north ditch. The driver applied the brakes but could not avoid hitting the deer, reported sheriff deputy Duane McCarty. Mason S. Kukuk, 14, of the same address, was a passenger in the vehicle. No one was injured and damages were more than $1,000.

Travis Lee Holdeman, 30, 306 Floral, Hillsboro, was traveling south on Indigo Road at 7:10 p.m. July 26, in a 1997 Dodge Intrepid when a deer came from an east ditch and hit the driver's door. Sgt. Soyez reported there were no injuries and damages were more than $1,000.
