Accidents

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Jack A. Martin, 51, 718 120th, Hillsboro, was westbound on 120th at Eagle at 6:30 a.m. Sept. 19. Martin, driving a 1994 Ford Explorer, was going 50-55 mph when a deer ran from the north ditch. Martin could not avoid hitting the deer. Sheriff Lee Becker states Martin was not injured.

Janis M. Maggard, 51, 1980 Timber, Marion, was southbound on Nighthawk just south of 180th at 7:10 a.m. Sept. 20. A deer came out of the east ditch and was struck by Maggard's 2001 Chevrolet Blazer. Maggard was not injured, reports Undersheriff Randal Brazil.

Jeremy L. Ewan, 17, Erie, was backing onto 290th at Remington at 10:43 a.m. Sept. 10. Ewan lost control of the 1997 Pontiac Grand Am he was driving and the vehicle entered the west ditch hitting a culvert and rolling onto its right side. Jonathon S. Tennyson, 20, Altamont, was a passenger in the vehicle. A phone junction box, property of Tri-County Telephone, was damaged. Ewan was taken by Tampa Ambulance to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, reports Deputy Rollin Schmidt.

Lee Allyn File, 25, McPherson, was eastbound on U.S.-56 just west of K-15 at 6 a.m. Sept. 21. A deer entered the roadway and was struck by File's 2004 Chevrolet Silverado. The vehicle is registered to Fairbank Equipment Company, Wichita. Deputy Schmidt states File was not injured.

Autumn R. Chisholm, 50, 2868 Kanza, Durham, was westbound on 290th just west of Indigo at 6:41 p.m. Sept. 21. Blinded by the sun, Chisholm's 2000 Dodge Durango struck a "road closed" sign, property of Marion County Road and Bridge, Marion. Katie Evans, 4, 2413 Old Mill, Marion, was a passenger in the vehicle. No one was injured, reports Deputy Mike Vineski.

Larry L. Dalrymple, 34, Tulsa, Okla., was westbound on U.S.-50 just east of Pawnee at 12:34 a.m. Sept. 24. Holly M. Unruh, 30, 120 Walnut, Peabody, was eastbound on U.S.-50. Dalrymple, driving a 1997 Nissan Altima, crossed left of center and struck Unruh's 1991 Chevrolet Caprice in the eastbound lane. Dalrymple was arrested for driving under influence. Kelsie Glenn, 23, 210 West 2nd, Peabody, was a passenger in the Unruh vehicle. All individuals involved were injured but did not require transport, reports Undersheriff Brazil and Deputy Larry Starkey.

Brianna L. Unrau, 18, Newton, was westbound on 120th just west of Diamond at 7:20 a.m. Sept. 15. A cow entered the roadway and was struck by Unrau's 1990 Chevrolet Lumina. Unrau's vehicle is registered to Lynel J. Unrau, of the home. Unrau was taken by Hillsboro Ambulance to Newton Medical Center. The cow is property of Tim Wedel, Newton, reports Deputy Schmidt.

Darrell W. Martin, 58, McPherson, was westbound on U.S.-56 just east of Limestone at 2 p.m. Sept. 16. The brakes of his 2000 Kenwood became hot and caught on fire. The vehicle is registered to City of McPherson. Martin was not injured, reports Deputy Whitwell.
