Accidents

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Dorris J. Cain, 65, Newton, was westbound on U.S.-56 just west of Sunrise at 7:05 p.m. March 12 when a deer entered the roadway from the south ditch. Cain, driving a 1996 Ford Windstar registered to Pizzaco Inc., Newton, was unable to avoid hitting the deer. Deputy Josh Whitwell states Cain was not injured.

Joe J. Alvarez Jr., 48, 112 S. Cedar, Hillsboro, was southbound on K-15 just north of U.S.-56 at 1:02 p.m. March 8. Troy L. Wiebe, 32, 2994 Falcon, Durham, was also southbound in front of Alvarez. A large piece of wood came off the 1984 International Semi with trailer Wiebe was driving and struck Alvarez's 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix. Passenger in the Alvarez vehicle was Barbara L. Alvarez, 47, of the home. The Wiebe vehicle is registered to Jantz Construction, 665 340th, Tampa. Undersheriff Randal Brazil states no one was injured.

Lavae J. Davis, 26, 409 4th, Durham, was northbound on K-15 just south of 260th at 3:20 p.m. March 8. Davis crossed left of center and struck a 2005 Chevrolet pickup driven by Henry F. Keil, 63, 3070 Quail Creek, Lincolnville. Phyllis A. Keil, 73, of the home, was a passenger in Keil's vehicle. Davis was driving a 1995 Saturn registered to Rick Koehn, of the home. No one was injured, reports Undersheriff Brazil.

Ben J. Thompson, 15, 501 North B, Ramona, was backing onto D Street from a parking spot in Ramona at 6:48 p.m. March 4. Thompson's 1996 Ford Windstar struck a legally parked car registered to Randy Stroda, 1771 600 Ave., Hope. Thompson's vehicle is registered to Kim and Daniel Young, 504 North E, Ramona. Thompson was not injured, reports Undersheriff Brazil.
