Accidents

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Donald C. Gillet, 72, 2282 50th, Florence, was eastbound on 60th just east of Old Mill at 1:20 p.m. June 16. Gillet reached in the car to rearrange groceries. His 1973 Chevrolet Chevelle veered into the south ditch and struck a creek embankment. Deputy Rollin Schmidt states Gillet was injured but did not require transport.

Beeton Brooks, 30, 2415 South 2800 Road, Burdick, was southbound on U.S.-56 just south of 370th at 10:25 p.m. June 12. Beeton, driving a 1989 Ford F-150, entered the east ditch and drove through a fence into a field. The vehicle is registered to Rebecca Alvarez, 120 South Kansas, Lincolnville. The fence and damaged crops are property of Steve Shields. Beeton was not injured, reports Deputy Josh Whitwell.

Ashley Perkins, 19, Newton, was westbound on U.S.-56 just east of K-15 at 9 p.m. June 12. Perkins, driving a 1997 Plymouth Breeze, lost control of the vehicle and slid into the north ditch hitting the guardrail on the bridge. Jason Wood, 22, and Francis Yong, 22, both of Newton were passengers in the vehicle registered to Patsy Marshall, Lincolnville. No one was injured, reports Deputy Whitwell.

Fernando Chavez, 41, 302 West 3rd, Hillsboro, was northbound on Indigo just north of 210th at 3:55 a.m. May 13. Chevez, driving a 1989 Chevrolet Cheyenne, entered an area with rushing water. The vehicle was swept off the road into a field east of the roadway. The vehicle is registered to Klassen Inc., 2460 K-15, Hillsboro. Deputy Schmidt reports Chavez was not injured.
