Accidents reported

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

William H. Lemmer, 64, Olathe, was westbound on U.S.-50 near Quail Creek in a 2006 Freightliner at 7:20 a.m. Jan. 3 when eight deer crossed the roadway from a north ditch. One deer was struck. The truck was owned by Yellow Transportation, Inc. of Overland Park. Marion County Undersheriff Randal Brazil reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Richard J. Mellott, 64, 917 90th, Peabody, was southbound on Indigo Road near 80th in a 2000 Dodge Durango at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 5 when a deer entered the road from a west ditch and was struck. Vickie Mellott, 56, of the same address, and Ron Weber, 59, Lee Summit, Mo., were passengers. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Marion County Sheriff Deputy Josh Whitwell.

Brett Michael Fishel, 25, El Dorado, was southbound on U.S.-77, approximately four miles south of Florence, in a 2004 Ford pickup at 7:03 a.m. Jan. 12 when he lost control on black ice, entered a west ditch, and rolled the vehicle. The driver was transported to Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital with a possible injury. Kansas Highway Patrol investigated the accident.
