Accidents reported

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Ariel M. Sevart, 16, 212 N. Locust, Peabody, was northbound on Indigo Road near 140th in a 2001 Kia Rio at 6:45 p.m. Jan. 9, when her vehicle struck a deer that was standing in the road. The vehicle was registered to Jennifer Sevart, of the same address. Melisa Lieder, 16, 313 S. Ash, Hillsboro, and Matt Ornelas, 18, Newton, were passengers. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Matt Vogt reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Robert T. Spencer, 37, 505 N. Maple, Peabody, was northbound on Nighthawk Road near 80th in a 1990 Jeep Cherokee at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 21, when he lost control of his vehicle on the icy road and went into an east ditch. The driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages, reported Marion County Sheriff Deputy Larry Starkey.

Ella R. Swain, 80, 307 N. Roosevelt, Marion, was eastbound on 190th Road near Kanza in a 1988 Chrysler Lebaron at 3:45 p.m. Jan. 21, when she lost control of her vehicle on the icy road, entered a south ditch, and struck a utility pole. A second pole broke as a result of the impact. Marion County Undersheriff Randal Brazil reported the driver was injured and transported by Hillsboro EMS to Hillsboro Community Medical Center.

Amy L. Vogel, 44, 515 S. Cedar, Marion, was southbound on Upland Road near U.S.-256 in a 2005 Kia Sorento at 4 p.m. Jan. 21, when she lost control of the vehicle on the icy road, entered an east ditch, and struck a fence and fence post. The driver was injured and transported by Marion EMS to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, reported Marion County Sheriff Deputy Duane McCarty.

Locust, Peabody, was eastbound on 190th Road at Kanza in a 1996 Plymouth Neon at 5:34 p.m. Jan. 21, when she lost control of the vehicle on the icy road, entered a south ditch, and struck a utility pole. The vehicle was registered to Jennifer Gaines, of the same address. Joshua Sevart, 15, of the same address, was a passenger. Undersheriff Brazil reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Kayla Kremeier-Carr, 26, Newton, was northbound on Sunflower Road near 140th in a 2001 Mercury Mountaineer at 6:50 p.m. Jan. 21, when she lost control of the vehicle on the icy road, and went into a west ditch. The vehicle was registered to Leslie E. Kremeier of Herington. Alaycea Carr, 4, of the same address as the driver, was a passenger. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Deputy Starkey.

Marcy R. Ehrlich, 36, 406 N. Cincinnati, Burns, was westbound on 30th Road near Clover in a 1996 Chevrolet Suburban at 7:45 a.m. Jan. 25, when a deer came from a ditch and was struck. The vehicle was registered to Peabody-Burns USD 398 of Peabody. Deputy McCarty reported the driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.

Kent M. Sterk, 36, Newton, was southbound on Diamond Road near 130th in a 2002 Chevrolet van at 12:24 p.m. Jan. 27, when a deer came from an east ditch and was struck. The report indicated the driver was injured but was not transported to a hospital. Jade Sterk, 10, of the same address, was a passenger, reported Undersheriff Brazil.

Melissa Arndt, 29, 213 N. Main, Hillsboro, was northbound on Date Street, Hillsboro, in a 1996 Oldsmobile Aurora at 3:45 p.m. Jan. 28 when a 1984 Volvo station wagon, driven by Samuel L. Bookless, 16, 415 S. Main, #5, Hillsboro, failed to yield at the intersection of B and Date streets and struck the right side of Arndt's car. Arndt's vehicle was registered to Melissa Mille of 406 N. Cedar, Marion. Bookless' vehicle was registered to Donald and Lillian Bookless of the same address. Thomas Larabee Jr., 8, of the same address as the driver, was a passenger in the Arndt vehicle. Chris Schafer, 15, of the same address as the driver, was a passenger in the Bookless vehicle. Hillsboro police officer David Funk reported there were possible injuries.

Joseph Catron, 54, 842 150th, Hillsboro, was eastbound on 150th near Falcon in a 1999 Ford pickup at 3:11 p.m. Jan. 31 when he lost control on the icy roadway, entered the north ditch, and drove through a barbed wire fence on property owned by Rodney Boese, 1370 N. Alamo, Canton. Deputy McCarty reported the driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.

Julie Schmidt, 29, Emporia, was northbound on U.S.-77 near 250th in a 2005 Dodge Neon at 7:55 p.m. Jan. 28 when a deer came from the west ditch and was struck. Passengers in the vehicle were Genesis Rudolph, 12, and Haley and Daniel Rudolph, 9, all of 503 Newton, Lincolnville. Deputy Vogt reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.
