Accidents reported

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Ronald J. Werner, 63, Halstead, was southbound on Sunflower Road near 120th in a 2003 Dodge Intrepid at 5:35 p.m. Jan. 6 when a deer came from a north ditch and was struck by the vehicle. Mike Wade, 49, Wichita, was a passenger. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Jim Philpott reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Gene A. Hett, 55, 1500 E. Main, Apt. 1, Marion, was westbound on U.S.-256 (Main Street) near Lincoln Street in a 2000 Ford Ranger pickup at 8 a.m. Jan. 25 when a 2006 Honda Ridgeliner pickup driven by Marilyn M. Brunner, 57, 228 S. Lincoln, Marion, was stopped on South Lincoln Street and then pulled out in front of Hett vehicle. The Hett vehicle struck the Brunner vehicle on the right side rear door. Marion Police Lieutenant Dean Keyes and Marion Police Officer Robert Soyez reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Kenneth P. Ballard, 68, 1091 Indigo Road, Peabody, was northbound on Indigo near 80th in a 1998 Dodge Caravan at 6:55 p.m. Jan. 25 when several deer entered the roadway from the west. One of the deer was struck. The vehicle was registered to Sunshine Academy Inc., Newton. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Marion County Sheriff Deputy Josh Whitwell.

Devon Funk, 15, 1776 Goldenrod Road, Hillsboro, was eastbound on 190th near Holly in a 1994 Honda Civic at 8:05 a.m. Jan. 26 when he lost control because of frost on the roadways. The vehicle entered a south ditch and overturned one time. The vehicle was registered to Donovan Funk of the same address. Marion County Undersheriff Randal Brazil reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Michael Lee Woelk, 18, 632 110th Road, Hillsboro, was eastbound on 110th near Chisholm Trail in a 1991 GMC Jimmy at 9:30 p.m. Jan. 27 when he lost control of the vehicle on the icy roadways, entered a north ditch, and overturned. The vehicle was registered to Kathy Woelk of the same address. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Undersheriff Brazil.

Kenneth D. Hein, 53, 709 Lawrence, Durham, was westbound on U.S.-56 near K-15 in a 2000 Ford Ranger pickup at 6:50 a.m. Feb. 1 when he lost control of the vehicle on the icy roadway, entered a north ditch, and overturned, striking a post owned by Kansas Department of Transportation. Undersheriff Brazil reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.
