Accidents reported

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Joshua A. Lafever, 21, 126 S. Washington, Burns, was southbound on Washington Street near Scott Street in Burns in a 1995 Acura passenger car at 12:35 a.m. Feb. 17, when he lost control of his vehicle, and struck an electric pole. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Matt Vogt reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Kevin Hayward, 43, 419 N. Lincoln, Marion, was northbound on Sunflower Road near 130th in a 1996 Chevrolet CRS sedan at 5:15 a.m. Feb. 21, when a deer came from an east ditch, entered the roadway, and was struck. The driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages, reported Deputy Vogt.

Brett D. Curran, 23, Newton, was southbound on Indigo Road near 160th in a 2003 Ford Ranger pickup at 10:15 a.m. Feb. 24, when he lost control on the icy and slushy roadway, entered an east ditch, and struck a phone box and fence. Marion County Undersheriff Randal Brazil reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Caleb A. Dirks, 22, 122 S. Lincoln, Hillsboro, was eastbound on 190th Road near Kanza in a 1995 Pontiac Grand Am at 11:15 a.m. Feb. 24, when the driver lost control of his vehicle which spun sideways, and entered a north ditch, striking a fence post. The vehicle was registered to Darrel Just, 1261 140th, Hillsboro. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Marion County Sheriff Deputy Duane McCarty.

Mary K. Humber, 42, 111 N. Wilson, Hillsboro, was southbound on Indigo Road near 80th in a 1998 Ford Windstar van at 6:45 p.m. Feb. 24, when a deer came from a west ditch, entered the roadway, and was struck. The vehicle Undersheriff Brazil reported the driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.

James M. Hancock, 31, Junction City, was eastbound on U.S.-50 near Nighthawk Road in a 2008 Pontiac Grand Am at 2:45 p.m. Feb. 29, when the driver swerved to miss an oncoming car, lost control of his vehicle, and struck a ditch with the front end of the vehicle. The vehicle was registered to Enterprise Leasing of Wichita. James J. Warren, 32, Junction City, was a passenger. There were no injuries and less than $1,000 in damages, reported Deputy Vogt.

Rollind E. Bartel, 54, 1161 210th, Hillsboro, was westbound on U.S.-56 near Eagle Road in a 2001 Cadillac DeVille at 7 p.m. March 8, when a deer came from a south ditch and was struck. The vehicle was registered to Betty Peycke, Tyler, Texas. Passengers in the vehicle were Melissa A. Bartel, 54, of the same address, Cheryl R. Bartel, 50, and Marlin K. Bartel, 55, both of 320 S. Cedar, Hillsboro. Undersheriff Brazil reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.
