Accidents reported

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Rebecca J. Yoder, 48, 1259 90th, Peabody, was westbound on 90th Road near Eagle in a 2002 Chrysler van at 5:35 a.m. Feb. 12, when a deer entered the roadway and was struck. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Jim Philpott reported the driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages to the vehicle.

Douglas M. Hett, 39, 1805 Old Mill, Marion, was westbound on 190th Road near Remington in a 2004 Chevrolet pickup at 4:15 p.m. March 10, when he lost control of the vehicle because the trailer he was pulling was swaying. The pickup left the roadway and struck a utility pole. The driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages, reported Marion County Sheriff Deputy Matt Vogt.

Sierra Dirksen, 16, Newton, was southbound on Chisholm Trail Road near 80th in a Pontiac Grand Am (no year was listed on the report) at 7:05 a.m. March 14, when a deer came from an east ditch. The driver braked which caused her to lose control of her vehicle and she struck a main gas line meter, breaking the meter. The vehicle was registered to Ron and Patsy Dirksen of the same address. Deputy Vogt reported the driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.

The driver of a 1995 Honda SUV reported to Hillsboro Police that she had parked her vehicle in a parking lot on North Ash Street, Hillsboro, at 10 a.m. March 19, and noted that she had parked behind a large pickup. When she returned home she noticed there was damage to the front of her vehicle. The damaged vehicle was registered to Patrick and Ann Carr, 601 S. Fourth, Marion. Hillsboro Police Officer Lyle Gillett reported there was more than $1,000 in damages.

Cody R. Schafer, 26, 211 S. Floral, Hillsboro, was westbound on 190th Road near K-256 in a 1996 Chevrolet pickup at 10:50 p.m. March 21, when he stated he was "texting" on his cell phone, lost control of his vehicle, and went into a north ditch striking a field entrance with his right front wheel. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Larry Starkey reported that the driver was transported by Marion EMS to St. Luke Hospital The vehicle was registered to Gene Schafer, PO Box 10, Durham.

Nicholas Grzyboskwi, 59, Humboldt, was northbound on U.S.-77 near 30th Road in a 2002 Chevrolet pickup at 5:20 a.m. March 24, when a deer came from a west ditch and was struck. The vehicle was registered to Hamm Inc. of Perry. The driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages, reported Deputy Vogt.

The driver of a 1998 Dodge Ram pickup reported to Hillsboro Police that his vehicle received damage to a door after parking it at Hillsboro Sports Complex on March 25. The vehicle was registered to Douglas Sisk, 507 W. B, Hillsboro. There was less than $1,000 in damages, reported Officer Gillett.

Judith K. Koehn, 57, 616 S. Cedar, Marion, was westbound on 190th Road near Pawnee in a 1997 Dodge Intrepid at 6:15 a.m. March 26, when a deer came from a north ditch and was struck. Cecil Koehn, 64, of the same address was a passenger. Marion County Undersheriff Randal Brazil reported no one in the vehicle was injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.

Barbara K. Hanschu, 54, 133 Quail Road, Ramona, was westbound on 360th Road near Upland in a 2002 Dodge Durango at 9:35 p.m. March 26, when she came over a hill and saw four cows standing in the roadway. The driver swerved to avoid the cows but struck one. Deputy Starkey reported the driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages. The vehicle was registered to Rick Hanschu of the same address.
