Michael D. Boese, 33, 609 S. Main, Hillsboro, was eastbound on U.S.-56 near milemarker 288 in a 1999 Buick Century at 3:45 a.m. May 15 when a deer came from a south ditch and struck the right front and side of the car. The vehicle was registered to Than L. Fishback, McPherson. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Duane McCarty reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.
Robert J. Stallbaumer, 49, Andover, was eastbound on U.S.-56 near Old Mill Road in a 2001 Chrysler PT at 12:45 a.m. May 19 when a deer came from a south ditch and on to the roadway. The vehicle struck the deer. The driver was not injured and was arrested for DUI, reported Marion County Undersheriff Randall Brazil. There was more than $1,000 in damages.
Kevin A. Rider, 20, 628 240th, Hillsboro, was westbound on 130th Road near K-15 in a 1998 Chevrolet Monte Carlo at 6 p.m. May 19 when he swerved to avoid an eastbound vehicle on 130th. Rider lost control of his vehicle, entered a south ditch, and stopped in a wheat field owned by Jerry Voth, 266 130th, Goessel. Undersheriff Brazil reported there were no injuries and less than $1,000 in damages.
