Accidents reported

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Ashley Forney, 16, Ogden, was southbound on U.S.-77 near mile-marker 87 in a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am at 7:32 a.m. May 31, when a deer came from an east ditch, was struck and killed. The vehicle was registered to Harlan Lofthus Jr., of the same address. Passengers were Sam Elliott, no age given, Andover, and Bailey Thompson, 17, Wichita, reported Marion County Sheriff Lee Becker. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Sometime between 5:30 p.m. June 7 and 7:30 a.m. June 8, an unknown vehicle struck a 1992 Ford F-150 pickup on the passenger side door while it was parked in a parking lot at 101 N. Ash, Hillsboro. The vehicle was owned by M.V. Hefley Revocable Trust, 205 S. Birch, Hillsboro. Hillsboro Police Officer David Funk was the investigating officer of the hit-and-run accident.

Bradley Jacob Slayden, 16, Lehigh, was northbound on Diamond Road in a 1992 Chevrolet Caprice at 4:19 p.m. June 8, when he stopped at a stop sign at 150th. The driver failed to yield to a another vehicle, a 1988 Chevrolet Nova, driven by Catherine D. Hill, 48, Hillsboro, and the vehicles collided in the intersection. Passengers in the Hill vehicle were Sarah Schafers, 5, and Santiago Schafers, 2, both from Hillsboro. Hill and her passengers were transported by ambulance to Hillsboro Community Medical Center. Slayden was not injured, reported Kansas Highway Patrol.

John H. Antoszyk, 42, 3660 Remington, Ramona, was southbound on Remington near 340th in a 2004 Ford Excursion at 5:34 a.m. June 11, when a deer came out of a west ditch, entered the roadway, and was struck. Marion County Undersheriff Randal Brazil reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Sara Sebring, 17, Newton, was northbound on K-15 near 70th in a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire at 9:15 p.m. June 11, when her vehicle struck a large, yellow dog that was standing in the roadway. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Undersheriff Brazil.

Dakota J. Peterson, 16, 110 N. Adams, Hillsboro, was eastbound on U.S.-56 in a 1998 Dodge Dakota pickup at 12:30 p.m. June 16, and attempted to turn north on Old Mill Road. The driver said his brakes did not perform correctly and caused his vehicle to enter an east ditch, and struck a concrete marker and guide wire. The vehicle was registered to Daine Peterson, of the same address. There were no injuries, reported Marion County Sheriff Deputy Duane McCarty.
