Accidents reported

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Douglas M. Biehler, 38, Herington, was eastbound on 290th Road near Vista in a 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass at 7:50 p.m. June 27, when he lost control of the vehicle, entered a south ditch, and struck a phone box and fence. Marion County Undersheriff Randal Brazil reported the driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.

Iva L. Britton, 58, 118 Doyle, Florence, was westbound on U.S.-50 near milemarker 293 in a 1996 GEO Prism at 5:20 a.m. July 1, and had slowed down because of a deer on the roadway. The deer moved off the road and then turned and darted into the vehicle from a south ditch. The driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages, reported Marion County Sheriff Lee Becker.

Erick Berkness, 18, Lawton, Okla., was traveling on the roundabout at the U.S.-50/77 intersection at Florence on a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle at 2:35 p.m. July 1, when the vehicle slid on loose gravel on the shoulder of the road and the rider laid down the motorcycle. Florence Police Chief Conroy Miller reported that the driver was injured and was transported by Florence EMS to Newton Medical Center for treatment.

John R. Morris, 40, 204 Pine, Peabody, was westbound on 60th Road near Needle on a 2000 motorcycle at 12:04 p.m. July 4, and was unable to slow down to make the curve. The driver was injured but the report did not indicate if he was transported to a hospital. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Travis Wilson reported there was more than $1,000 in damages.
