Accidents reported

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Ashley Forney, 16, Ogden, was southbound on U.S.-77 near milemarker 87 in a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am at 7:32 a.m. May 31, when a deer came from an east ditch and was struck. Passengers in the in the vehicle were Sam Elliott, no age given, and Bailey Thompson, 17, both of Wichita. The car was registered to Harlan Loftus Jr. of the same address as the driver. Marion County Sheriff Lee Becker reported there were no injuries and less than $1,000 in damages.

Christopher P. Elliott, 33, Moore, Okla., was westbound on K-150 and stopped at the intersection of K-150/U.S.-77/56 in a 2007 Ford F-150 pickup at 10:55 a.m. June 14, when he pulled from the intersection and struck the left rear of a 1994 Ford Taurus driven by Julie K. Schlesener, 36, Herington. The Taurus came to rest in the southwest ditch of the intersection. The driver was injured but was not transported. Emily Schlesener, 5, Herington, was a passenger. There were no other injuries and no damage estimate was given. The pickup was registered to Stinger Wellhead Protection Inc. of Oklahoma City, Okla., and the car to James M. Schlesener of Dalhart, Texas, reported Sheriff Becker.

Gilbert W. Suderman, 66, 216 S. Madison, Hillsboro, was northbound on Indigo Road in a 2004 Chevrolet SUV at 9:50 p.m. June 30, when a deer entered the roadway from a west ditch and was struck. Elaine K. Suderman, 64, or the same address, was a passenger. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Jim Philpott reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Nancy McLeod, 51, Peabody, was northbound on Peabody Street at the intersection of U.S.-50 in a 2000 GMC truck at 8 p.m. July 2, when she failed to stop at the intersection and was struck by a westbound 1995 Kenworth truck, driven by Mark Emery, 40, Lawrence. McLeod was transported to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. Jeanne Emery, 42, Lawrence, was a passenger in the semi tractor, and both she and the driver had possible injuries, reported Kansas Highway Patrol.

Destiny C. Tyler, 15, 501 N. Elm, Peabody, was southbound on Nighthawk Road near 120th in a 1985 Buick passenger car at 9:10 p.m. July 5, when she lost control, entered an east ditch, and struck an embankment. Austin Jost, 14, 1383 140th Road, Marion, was a passenger. According to Marion County Sheriff Deputy Duane McCarty, both occupants were injured but were not transported by ambulance. The vehicle was registered to Larry Bartlett, 208 N. Vine, Peabody. There was no damage estimate indicated.

Lisa C. Redger, 34, 2929 Goldenrod Road, Durham, was southbound on Goldenrod Road near 300th in a 2006 Ford Fusion at 9 p.m. July 8, when a deer came from a west ditch and was struck. There were no injuries and less than $1,000 in damages, reported Deputy McCarty. The accident was reported July 10 to authorities.

Sharon L. Higgins, 45, 963 E. 230th Road, Hillsboro, was northbound on Indigo near U.S.-56 in a 1998 Ford Explorer at 5 p.m. July 9, when the driver said she had struck a pot hole, lost control, entered a west ditch, and overturned. Higgins was transported by ambulance to Hillsboro Community Medical Center, Hillsboro, reported Marion County Undersheriff Randal Brazil. No damage estimate was given.
