Accidents reported

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Aleen J. Ratzlaff, 55, 304 S. Washington, Hillsboro, was driving on Lincoln Street, Hillsboro, in a 2001 Dodge Stratus at 2:10 p.m. Aug. 13, when she was struck by a 2001 Dodge Caravan driven by Wendy M. Unruh, 32, 609 Douglas, Durham, as the Caravan was making a U-turn at the intersection of C and Lincoln streets. The right side of the Stratus was damaged. Passengers in the Unruh vehicle were Shanda J. Unruh, 1, and Joel R. Unruh, 3, of the same address. Marion County Sheriff's Deputy Duane McCarty reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Elias L. Krause, 15, 207 Kennedy, Hillsboro, was southbound on Diamond near U.S.-56 in a 1999 Jeep Sport at 1:10 p.m. Aug. 19, and following a 1993 Ford Explorer driven by Tyler G. Jones, 16, 212 N. Prospect, Lehigh, when Jones slammed on his brakes. Krause was unable to stop and rear-ended the Ford. Marion County Sheriff Sergeant Jeff Soyez reported that Jones left the scene of the accident. Samual Bookless, 15, 415 S. Main, Apt. #5, Hillsboro, was a passenger in the Krause vehicle. The owner of the Jeep was Tammy Krause of the same address. The owner of the Ford was Fred Jones of the same address. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, Sergeant Soyez reported.

Barbara E. Smith, 63, 201 S. Cedar, Hillsboro, was backing from a driveway on Cedar Street in a 1991 Mercury Cougar at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 20, when she struck a 1993 Ford Escort driven by William h. Farrar, 57, 305 N. Lincoln, Hillsboro, that was temporarily parked in the driveway. Hillsboro Police Officer Steven Janzen reported there were no injuries and less than $1,000 in damages.

Gregg Stenzel, 49, 2440 Pawnee, Marion, was southbound on Pawnee Road near 310 in a 1994 Chevrolet truck at 9:50 p.m. Aug. 23, when he struck a black calf that was standing in the middle of the road. The calf belonged to Monty Stuchlik, 2126 330th, Lost Springs. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Jim Philpott reported the driver was not injured and damages to the vehicle were more than $1,000.

Billie Jo Classen, 36, 731 Newell, Peabody, was northbound on Sunflower Road near 120th in a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant at 6:45 a.m. Aug. 27, when a deer came from an east ditch and was struck. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Sergeant Soyez.

Stephen J. Tuszynski, 46, Abilene, was westbound on U.S.-56 near Goldenrod in a 1996 Ford Aspire at 6:53 a.m. Aug. 27, when a deer came from a north ditch and was struck. Hillsboro Police Officer David Funk reported the driver suffered a laceration to his upper right arm and was transported by ambulance to Hillsboro Community Medical Center.
