Accidents reported
The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:
Tracey L. Morris, 41, McPherson, was westbound on U.S.-56 in a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu at 10:35 p.m. Aug. 20, when a deer came from a south ditch and was struck. The driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages, reported Marion County Sheriff Deputy Larry Starkey.
Frederick E. Carlson, 65, 2485 Kanza, Hillsboro, was northbound and crossing U.S.-56 on Timber Road in a 2006 International truck at 9:50 a.m. Aug. 29, when he struck a westbound Ford Freightliner van driven by Bryan A. Bain, 50, Allen. The van then struck a third vehicle, a 1996 Jeep Cherokee driven by Kay Tajchman, 47, 2135 U.S.56/77, Marion, and a stop sign. Hillsboro and Marion ambulances were dispatched with Carlson and Bain transported to St. Luke Hospital, Marion. The truck was owned by Marion County and the van by the State of Kansas, reported Marion County Undersheriff Randal Brazil.
