Accidents reported

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Dalen L. Koehn, 16, 450 Xavier Rd., Burns, was turning around at the intersection of 30th and Wagon Wheel at 7:15 p.m. Sept. 7. A culvert under the road caved in. Koehn's 1979 International sank into the road and spilled part of its load. The vehicle is registered to Vernon Koehn, 2508 40th Rd., Burns. Deputy Aaron Waddell states Koehn was not injured.

Gavin Moore, 16, 76 Lakeshore Dr., Marion, was turning left from U.S.-77 onto 170th at 3:30 a.m. Sept. 12. Moore, driving a 1996 Dodge pickup, fell asleep and entered the ditch. Registered owner of the vehicle is Eric R. Moore of the home. Moore was not injured, reports Deputy Waddell.

Shaina Kaye Makovec, 17, 3201 Quail Creek, Ramona was westbound on 340th just west of U.S.-56/77 attempting to turn south into a field entrance at 8:52 p.m. Sept. 7. Joshua James Spooner, 18, 204 Main, Burdick, also was westbound and attempted to pass Makovec's 1997 Pontiac Sunfire. Spooner's 2000 Chevrolet Malibu struck Makovec's 1997 Pontiac Sunfire as she attempted the turn. Amy Hajek, 14, 1422 330th, Tampa, was a passenger in the Makovec vehicle, registered to Gail Makovec of the home. No one was injured, reports Deputy Mike Vineski.

Kevin L. Clegg, 41, 110 S. Vernon, Lehigh, was southbound on K-15 just south of 140th at 5:35 a.m. Sept. 10 when a deer entered the roadway from the west ditch. Clegg, driving a 1995 Chevrolet S10, was unable to avoid hitting and killing the deer. Clegg was not injured, reports Deputy Rollin Schmidt.

Melisa T. Burnett, 42, 1536 120th, Peabody, was northbound on Old Mill just south of 60th at 10:40 p.m. Sept. 4. A deer came from the west ditch and was struck by the 1990 Pontiac Transport Burnett was driving. Passenger in the vehicle was Matthew L. Burnett, 44, of the home. No injuries were reported, states Deputy Larry Starkey.

Nicole M. Tercyak, 25, Wichita, was northbound on U.S.-77 at U.S.-56 at 8 p.m. Sept. 3. Sarah A. Hellar, 22, Garden City, was eastbound on U.S.-56. Hellar, driving a 1998 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of U.S.-77 and U.S.-56, then pulled out in front of the 1997 Chevrolet S10 Tercyak was driving. Tercyak's vehicle struck the right side of the Hellar vehicle. Both drivers were taken by Marion Ambulance to St. Luke Hospital, reports Deputy Starkey and Undersheriff Randal Brazil.

Jared A. Seat, 21, Bartlesville, Okla., was southbound on U.S.-77 just north of 150th at 5:30 a.m. Sept. 3. Seat fell asleep and veered into the northbound lane. When he awoke, he overcorrected his 1988 Chevrolet Silverado and entered the west ditch. Daniel W. Cook, 21, Eugene, Ore., was a passenger in the vehicle which is registered to Bob Seat of Bartlesville, Okla. Both individuals were taken by Marion Ambulance to St. Luke Hospital, reports Deputy Schmidt.

Christopher R. Sloan, 25, Bushong, was eastbound on U.S.-56 just east of U.S.-77 at 8:15 p.m. Sept. 6 when a deer came from the north ditch. Sloan's 1989 Pontiac Grand Am struck and killed the deer. Cathy Sloan, 27, of the home, was a passenger in the vehicle. No one was injured, reports Undersheriff Brazil.
