Accidents reported

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Melvin W. Joy, 71, 609 North Lawrence, Durham, was northbound on U.S.-77 just south of U.S.-50 at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 15 when a deer came out of the west ditch and was struck by the 2003 Chrysler van Joy was driving. Dorene Joy, 68, of the home was a passenger in the vehicle. There were no injuries, states Undersheriff Randal Brazil.

Eric R. Hardey, 28, 620 South Cedar, Marion was westbound on U.S.-56 at Eagle at 4:15 a.m. Oct. 15. A deer came out of the north ditch and was hit by Hardey's 1990 Ford Ranger. Hardey was not injured, reports Deputy Josh Whitwell.

Roya L. Hand, 40, Emporia, was westbound on K-150 just east of mile marker 7 at 7:10 p.m. Oct. 15 when a deer entered the road from the south ditch. Hand's 2003 Pontiac Sunfire struck the deer. Debrah D. Shahan, 49, Elmdale, was a passenger in the vehicle. No one was injured, reports Deputy Whitwell.

Donald R. Luallen, 79, Wichita, was northbound on Wagonwheel at 20th at 11 a.m. Oct. 14. Jeffry A. Naysmith, 36, Newton, came from the west and struck the driver's side rear fender of Luallen's 1996 Ford Windstar. Tommie R. Luallen, 54, of the home was a passenger in the vehicle. Naysmith was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup registered to Farm Credit Leasing, Golden Valley, Minn. No one was injured, states Deputy Whitwell.

James E. Clemmer, 76, 601 Main, Tampa, was eastbound on 330th just west of Kanza at 9:20 p.m. Oct. 14. Three cows belonging to Kelly Novak, 3036 Limestone, Tampa, entered the roadway. Clemmer's 1998 Buick Park Ave. struck one of the cows, which was not injured. Deputy Mike Vineski states Clemmer was not injured.

Elissa L. Cordle, 24, 2754 Redbud, Marion, was southbound on Remington just south of 240th at 5:54 a.m. Oct. 15 when a deer entered the roadway. Cordle, driving a 1999 Chevrolet Malibu was unable to avoid hitting the deer. Cordle was not injured, reports Deputy Rollin Schmidt.
