Accidents reported

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

A parked vehicle owned by Danielle Goossen, 771 E. 110th, Peabody, was sideswiped in a hit-and-run incident that occurred sometime between 6 and 8:45 a.m. Oct. 10, on Cedar Street near B Street, Hillsboro. Hillsboro Police Officer David Funk reported the 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix sustained less than $1,000 while parked on the east side of Cedar Street.

Verna J. Gervais, 61, 109 Plum Street, Peabody, was westbound on U.S.-50 near Quail Creek Road at 8:25 p.m. Oct. 17 in a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan when a deer came from a south ditch and struck the left front fender. There were no injuries, reported Marion County Sheriff Deputy Duane McCarty, and more than $1,000 in damages.

Christopher R. Brewer, 18, 625 S. Freeborn, Marion, was northbound on Adams Street, Hillsboro, at 1:25 p.m. Oct. 18, when the left front wheel of his 1992 Ford F-250 pickup came off. The driver swerved and stopped on the left side of the roadway. The registered owner of the pickup was Hett Construction, 1212 E. Main, Marion. There was less than $1,000 in damages, reported Officer Funk.

Bradley D. Jantz, 49, Newton, was westbound on U.S.-56 near Old Mill Road at 6:40 p.m. Oct. 18 in a 2004 Jeep Liberty when a deer entered the roadway from a south ditch. Sheriff Deputy Josh Whitwell reported the vehicle struck the deer and caused more than $1,000 in damages. There were no injuries.

Alicia Ann Stout, 16, Canton, was eastbound on 180th near Sunflower Road at 3:40 p.m. Oct. 20 in a 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix when she lost control of the vehicle on the graveled road. The vehicle entered a north ditch, struck a field-access road, became airborne and landed in a plowed field. The driver was transported by Marion EMS to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, reported Deputy McCarty. The car was registered to Gayla Stout of McPherson. There was more than $1,000 in damages.

Becky A. McRae, 76, Herington, was northbound on U.S.-56/77 near 290th at 4:57 p.m. Oct. 20 in a 2005 Dodge Caravan when a deer came from an east ditch and entered the roadway. The vehicle struck the deer. The vehicle was registered to Elizabeth Jo McRae, 71, Herington, who also was a passenger. Undersheriff Randal Brazil reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

William L. Faunce, 47, 2519 20th, Burns, and Zebulon M. Hatfield, 20, 618 W. Marion, Burns, collided at 1:10 p.m. Oct. 21. Faunce, who was driving a 2002 Ford F-150 pickup, had slowed down at a yield sign and crossed Ohio Street but did not see the 1997 Buick LeSabre driven by Hatfield also crossing the intersection. Hatfield's vehicle struck the left side of the Faunce vehicle. Aaron Pile, 616 W. Marion Street, Burns, was a passenger in the Hatfield vehicle. Deputy Duane McCarty reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.
