Accidents reported

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Justin D. Youk, 44, 500 N. Third, Marion, was stopped to turn left from Main Street, Marion, onto Coble Street in a 2000 Ford F-250 pickup at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 24, when a westbound 2001 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Amy l. Smith, 33, 410 S. Coble, Marion, struck the rear of the pickup. Smith was transported to St. Luke Hospital by Marion EMS with possible injuries, reported Marion Police Officer Howard Kahler. No damage estimate was provided on the report.

Robert W. Vance III, 46, 222 N. Madison, Hillsboro, was northbound on Indigo Road near 130th in a 1999 Chevrolet S-10 pickup at 7:45 p.m. Oct. 29, when a deer came from an east ditch and was struck. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Duane McCarty reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages to the vehicle.

Jessica D. Vannocker, 20, 1075 160th, Hillsboro, was northbound on Indigo Road near 130th in a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier at 10 p.m. Oct. 29, when a deer came from a west ditch and was struck. Deputy McCarty reported there were no injuries. No damage estimate was listed on the report.

James N. Tiede, 46, Herington, was southbound on K-15 near 140th Road in a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche at 6 a.m. Oct. 30, when a deer came from an east ditch and was struck. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages to the vehicle, reported Marion County Undersheriff Randal Brazil.

Beverly D. Froese, 46, Inman, was westbound on U.S.-56 near Remington Road in a 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche pickup at 11:10 p.m. Oct. 30, when a deer came from a south ditch and was struck. Laura E. Schmidt, 18, Inman, was a passenger. Deputy McCarty reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages to the vehicle.

Andrew M. Corl, 20, Abilene, was northbound on Eagle Road near 160th in a 1995 Olds Cutlass at 11:30 p.m. Oct. 30, when he swerved to miss a coyote. The vehicle spun and rolled on its right side. Brock Fognight, 18, Wichita, was a passenger. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Deputy McCarty.

Anissa S. Reissig, 37, 602 W. Grand, Hillsboro, was eastbound on U.S.-56 near Chisholm Trail Road in a 2005 Nissan Altima at 6:55 a.m. Nov 2, when a deer came from a south ditch and was struck. Deputy McCarty reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages to the vehicle.

Dale R. Geis, 49, 2209 Remington Road, was southbound on Remington Road near U.S.-56 in a 2001 Chevrolet van at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 2, when a deer came from an east ditch and was struck. The van was registered to Flamings Inc., 113 S. Second, Marion. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages to the vehicle, reported Deputy McCarty.

Gerald L. Cunningham, 61, McPherson, was eastbound on U.S.-56 near Bison Road in a 1998 Buick passenger car at 7:45 a.m. Nov. 2, when three deer came from a north ditch and entered the highway. The vehicle struck one of the deer. Deputy McCarty reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages to the vehicle.

April D. Brooks, 33, 2663 K-15, Hillsboro, was backing from a parking space in a private parking lot in the 500 block of South Ash, Hillsboro, in a 1998 Mercury van at 2:40 p.m. Nov. 2, and David E. Fast, 77, 311 Ash, Hillsboro, also was backing from a parking space in a 2005 Ford pickup when the pickup struck the driver's door of the van. The car was registered to Kevin Winter, 2364 K-15, Hillsboro. Martha Fast, 81, of the same address, was a passenger in the pickup. There were no injuries, reported Hillsboro Assistant Police Chief Jessey Hiebert.

David Brandon Lucky, 29, 405 S. Birch, Hillsboro, was passing a vehicle on Birch Street near D Street, Hillsboro, in a 1973 Lincoln Continental at 6 p.m. Nov. 4, and scraped the side of a 1994 Nissan Sentra owned by Jonathan Maxfield, 311 S. Birch, Hillsboro. The Lincoln was owned by Karen D. Funk of the same address. Hillsboro Police Officer Steven Janzen reported there was more than $1,000 in damages.
