Accidents reported
The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:
Brent A. Unruh, 21, 210 S. Birch, Hillsboro, was eastbound on 290th Road near Nighthawk in a 2000 International truck at 2:58 p.m. Oct. 23, and was unable to stop before hitting a combine. The unoccupied combine then struck a bridge rail before coming to rest. David W. Evans, 23, of the same address, was a passenger in the truck. The truck was registered to Flint Hills RECA, Inc., of Council Grove. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Matt Vogt reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages. The owner of the combine was not listed on the report.
Richard T. Litton, 22, 505 N. Plum, Peabody, was traveling southbound on Old Mill Road in a 1996 Chevrolet Blazer at 9 a.m. Oct. 28, and slowed down to make a right turn onto 30th. John W. Goering, 17, 2385 190th, Marion, also was traveling south on Old Mill in a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am and struck the rear of the Litton vehicle. Amber Litton, 23, of Hesston, was a passenger in the Blazer. Larry Watts of the same address was the owner of the Litton vehicle and Charles E. Goering of the same address was the owner of the Pontiac. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Marion County Sheriff Deputy Jim Philpott.
Alan R. Stahlecker, 48, 214 W. Sixth, Lincolnville, was westbound on 290th Road near Pawnee in a 2005 Ford Taurus at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 3, when a deer came from a south ditch and was struck. Sheri Stahlecker, no age given, of the same address, was a passenger. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Larry Starkey reported the driver and passenger were not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.
Joshua M. Yerion, 21, 211 E. Fifth, Florence, was westbound on U.S.-50 near Turkey Creek in a 2000 Pontiac passenger car at 9:40 p.m. Nov. 3, when a deer entered the roadway and was struck. Passengers in the vehicle were Rebecca M. Hager, no age given, Wendy M. Hager, 22, both of the same address as the driver, and Joshua L. Vines, 25, 232 W. Fourth, Florence. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Deputy Starkey.
