Accidents reported

Catherine L. Jantzen, 48, 373 Quail Creek, Peabody, was eastbound on 40th Road in a 2001 USD 398 school bus at 6:35 a.m. Nov. 8, when a deer came from a south ditch and was struck. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Larry Starkey reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages. There were no students on the bus at the time of the collision.

Jaclyn E. DeForest, 14, 1262 Wagon Wheel, Florence, was northbound on U.S.-77 near milemarker 98 in a 1999 Ford Ranger pickup at 7:20 a.m. Nov. 10, when the vehicle went off the road on the east shoulder. The driver overcorrected which caused the pickup to travel across the highway, enter the west ditch, and roll twice, landing on its wheels. The driver was taken by Florence ambulance to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, for possible injuries. Charles D. and Catherine S. DeForest, of the same address, were the registered owners, reported Marion County Sheriff Deputy Jim Philpott.

Jamie L. Hicks, 27, Inman, was traveling north on Mustang Road near 80th in a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu at 1:13 p.m. Nov. 12, and lost control on a road with new gravel. The vehicle entered a west ditch and rolled once. Deputy Philpott reported the driver was taken by Peabody ambulance to Newton Medical Center for minor injuries.

Delano S. O'Dell, 49, 2477 180th, Marion, was traveling east on 180th near Wagon Wheel in a 2003 Chevrolet LS truck at 9:45 p.m. Nov. 14, when four deer ran in front of him. The driver swerved to miss the deer, entered the south ditch, and rolled the vehicle twice, landing on its wheels. Deputy Philpott reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Sandra K. Berg, 47, 205 S. Washington, Hillsboro, was northbound on Indigo near 70th Road in a 1997 Dodge Caravan at 8:35 p.m. Nov. 20, when a deer came from an east ditch. Berg was unable to avoid hitting the deer. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Marion County Sheriff Sergeant Jeff Soyez.

Carol A. Hicks, 55, 401 N. Ash, Apt. 6, Hillsboro, was backing from a parking space in the 100 block of West Grand Street at 11:40 a.m. Nov. 22, in a 2006 Toyota Corolla when she struck a 2002 Ford Explorer that was stopped in traffic. The driver of the second vehicle was Peter A. Fast, 18, 116 S. Lincoln, Hillsboro. The Explorer was registered to Marlene Fast of the same address. Hillsboro Assistant Police Chief Jessey Hiebert reported there were no injuries and less than $1,000 in damages.

Nicole N. Cimorelli, 19, 313 S. Ash, Hillsboro, was backing a 1988 GMC Safari van from a parking space at Hillsboro Community Medical Center at 12:20 p.m. Nov. 23, when it struck a parked vehicle, a 2005 Acura TL sedan, owned by Shelly Ross, Colorado Springs, Colo. The van was registered to Paul Lieder of the same address. Assistant Chief Hiebert investigated the accident.
