Accidents reported

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Doris L. Haws, 40, 119 North F Street, Herington, was northbound on U.S.-77 just north of 270th at 5:35 p.m. Dec. 1 when a deer came from the west ditch and was struck and killed. Haws, driving a 1998 Jeep Wrangler registered to Gordon Haws of the home, was not injured, reports Deputy Larry Starkey.

Justin W. Claycamp, 19, Howard, was southbound on U.S.-56/77 at K-150 at 4:07 p.m. Dec. 1. Christopher L. Griffith, 25, Kearney, Neb., was turning west onto U.S.-56 from U.S.-77. Claycamp, driving a 1997 GMC registered to Baldridge Electric, north Wichita, struck the front of Griffith's 1998 KW Semi, registered to Lammer Truck Inc., Pleasanton, Neb. Passenger in the Claycamp vehicle was Bill G. Claycamp, 53, of the home. Justin Claycamp and Christopher Griffith were taken by Hillsboro Ambulance to St. Luke Hospital, Marion. Bill Claycamp was taken by Lifeteam to Wesley Hospital, Wichita, reports Undersheriff Randall Brazil. Witnesses to the accident were Peggy Blosser of McPherson, Jennifer Walters of Emporia, Lee Sharp of Newton, and Patric Conner of Wichita.

Frankie E. Farmer Jr., 61, 111 West 2nd, Hope, was northbound on K-15 just north of 210th at 11:35 a.m. Dec. 3. David W. Silhan, 41, 204 Maple, Marion, was southbound. Rocks flew from the truck bed of Silhan's 2002 International truck striking Farmer's 1990 Chevrolet Silverado in the windshield and bug screen. Vickie L. Farmer, 59, Abilene, was a passenger in the Farmer vehicle. Silhan's vehicle is registered to Marion County Road and Bridge, Marion. No one was injured, reports Deputy Rollin Schmidt.

Wendy E. Hett, 36, 332 Grandview, Florence, was northbound on Grandview at 5th Street, Florence, at 6:17 p.m. Dec. 2. Hett, driving a 1997 Ford Explorer, stopped at the stop sign, turned left, and struck a street sign. Hett was not injured, states Deputy Starkey.

Dennis D. Ryff, 48, 1737 360th, Ramona, was westbound on 340th just east of Timber at 8:15 p.m. Dec. 4. A deer entered the roadway and Ryff swerved his 1997 Ford F250 truck to avoid the deer. Ryff overcorrected causing the vehicle to go into the north ditch and overturn. Ryff was not injured. A fence and sign damaged in the incident is property of Bob Novak, 2164 340th, and Marion County, reports Deputy Josh Whitwell.

James W. Regier, 57, 202 Eisenhower, Hillsboro, was westbound on 120th just east of Holly at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 24. A deer came from the south ditch and was struck by Regier's 1978 Chevrolet El Camino. Maryetta Regier, 55, of the home was a passenger in the vehicle. No injuries were reported, states Deputy Starkey.

Michael A. Swyers, 28, Enid, Okla., was northbound on U.S.-56 just north of K-150 at 9:57 p.m. Nov. 24. A deer entered the roadway and was struck by Swyers' 1998 Mazda. Jamie L. Swyers, 26, of the home was a passenger in the vehicle. No one was injured, reports Deputy Mike Vineski.

Randall R. Richmond, 43, 404 East Logan, Herington, was southbound on U.S.-56 just south of 340th at 7:55 a.m. Nov. 29. Richmond, driving a 1997 Pontiac Bonneville, lost control in the snow. The vehicle entered the west ditch and struck a road sign belonging to Kansas Department of Transportation. Deputy Vineski states Richmond was not injured.

Ryan J. Funk, 20, Concordia, was westbound on U.S.-56 just east of Old Mill at 10 p.m. Nov. 25. A deer entered the roadway and was struck by Funk's 1995 Ford F-150 truck which is registered to Ron Funk's Service and Repair, Hillsboro. Josh Funk, 17, 703 S. Washington, Hillsboro, was a passenger in the vehicle. No one was injured, reports Deputy Vineski.
