Accidents reported

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Gerald M. Donovan, 60, Salina, was making a right turn into a business parking lot in the 600 block of East Main, Marion, in a 1989 Mercury Sable at 11:20 a.m. Nov. 13, when a westbound 1993 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Cody D. Cook. 16, 721 Main, Florence, struck the rear of the Mercury. The Chevrolet was registered to Velma J. Frazier, of the same address. Marion Police Officer Robert Soyez reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Barbara J. Steiner, 47, 228 Walnut, Marion, was southbound on Walnut Street and stopped at the intersection of Walnut and Main streets in a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup at 3:20 p.m. Nov. 29, when a 1968 Ford F-10 pickup, driven by Gary W. Tomlinson, 34, 404 W. Santa Fe Street, Marion, was westbound on Main Street and made a right turn onto Walnut, striking the Silverado. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages. The accident was investigated by Officer Soyez and Marion Police Chief Josh Whitwell.

Mark J. Classen, 52, Buhler, was traveling on U.S.-50 near milemarker 300, no direction was given, in a 2002 Ford Windstar at 6:29 p.m. Dec. 4, when a deer came from a south ditch and was struck. The vehicle was registered to Integrated Solutions of Hutchinson. The driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages, reported Marion County Sheriff Deputy Matt Vogt.

Shane R. Ireland, 35, Overland Park, was eastbound on U.S.-50 near Nighthawk Road at the Peabody overpass in a 2001 Ford pickup at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 6, when he lost control on the icy roadway, crossed onto the north shoulder, and struck a guardrail. William Owens, 63, Kansas City, Mo., Shawn R. Newton, 32, and Gregorio Gonzalez-Chavarria, 45, both of Kansas City, were passengers. The vehicle was registered to Premier Equipment of Kansas City. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Larry Starkey reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Bryan W. Murphy, 32, Manhattan, was northbound on U.S.-56/77 near 290th in a 1997 Toyota Camry, at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 6, and struck a deer. The vehicle was registered to Davis Tomas of Fort Scott. Marion County Undersheriff Randal Brazil reported the driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.

Natalie E. Porter, 23, 406 S. Date, Hillsboro, was northbound on Indigo Road near 140th in a 2000 Pontiac Sunbird at 8:10 p.m. Dec. 7, when a deer came from a west ditch and was struck. Ashley A. Mount, 23, Ellsworth, was a passenger. The vehicle was registered to James E. Porter of Fredonia. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Sergeant Soyez.

Rachel M. Pederson, 24, 214 S. Main, Hillsboro, was southbound on Indigo Road near 180th in a 2000 Ford Century at 8:20 a.m. Dec. 8, when she lost control on ice and struck the west guardrail. Deputy Vogt reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Sharon Mackey, 28, 120 E. Seventh, Florence, was southbound on Sunflower Road near 180th in a 1999 Ford pickup at 10:10 a.m. Dec. 8, when she lost control because of ice on the road and rolled the truck on its side. Carol L. McFall, no age given, 304 Miller, Marion, was a passenger. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Deputy Vogt.

Jack Rosenthal Jr., 38, Hugo, was northbound on Old Mill Road near 10th in a 2004 Ford pickup at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 8, when he lost control, entered a west ditch, and rolled the vehicle three times, landing on its wheels. Deputy Vogt reported the driver was injured but the report does not indicate whether the driver was transported to a hospital. There was more than $1,000 in damages.

Teresa M. McGonigal, 36, 711 N. Olive, Peabody, was southbound on Nighthawk Road near 80th in a 2000 Dodge Caravan at 11 a.m. Dec. 8, when she lost control and entered an east ditch. The vehicle was registered to Sharon Oursler, 811 N. Olive, Peabody. Passengers in the van were Kristen M. McGonigal, no age given, and Devon G. McGonigal, 12, both of the same address as the driver. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Marion County Sheriff Deputy Jim Philpott.

Joshua A. Hulse, 22, 992 100th, Peabody, was northbound on Indigo Road near 80th in a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 8, when he lost control, entered a west ditch, and the vehicle rolled on its side. Deputy Philpott reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

Robert J. Clark, 43, Newton, was northbound on Nighthawk Road near 130th in a 1999 Dodge Durango at 6:18 p.m. Dec. 8, when he lost control, entered a west ditch, and overturned. Passengers were Jathan Clark, 10, and Cameron Clark, 8, both of the same address as the driver, and Timothy Greene, 29, Kami Greene, 1, and Nathanael Greene, 4, all of Minook, Ill. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Deputy Philpott.

Richard C. Grace, 19, 612 N. Elm, Peabody, was eastbound on 60th Road near Mustang in a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt at 7 p.m. Dec. 8, when he struck a deer. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Michael French reported the driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.
