Accidents reported

The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:

Jerred D. Hostetler, 31, Wichita, was southbound on Alfalfa Road, just south of U.S.-50, in a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta at 6 a.m. Aug. 23, when a deer came from a west ditch. The driver was unable to avoid hitting the animal, reported Marion County Sheriff Sergeant Jeff Soyez. There was more than $1,000 in damages and no injuries.

Don E. Arnold, 62, 2375 Kanza Road, Hillsboro, was driving a 1996 Nissan pickup at 7:40 p.m. Aug. 30, northbound on Kanza, just north of U.S.-56, and was looking at a farm field. The pickup left the roadway and entered a ditch. The vehicle hit an entrance driveway, became airborne, landed on its top, and flipped over. Sheriff deputy Duane McCarty reported the driver was injured and transported by ambulance to Hillsboro Community Medical Center.

Obed Levi Ramos, 35, Kinsley, was southbound on Kanza near 240th in a 1995 Dodge 2500 pickup at 8:50 p.m. Aug. 31, when the vehicle struck a deer that was standing in the roadway. The vehicle spun around and went into an east ditch. Passengers in the vehicle were Duarte O. Reyes, 25; Gutirrez Mundo, 22; and Pedro Duarte, 35, all of Chihuahua, Mexico. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported deputy Larry Starkey.

A 1993 Buick passenger car was parked on Main Street in Tampa and was struck by an unknown vehicle. The incident was reported at 5:58 p.m. Sept. 1. The owner of the vehicle was Performance Products, Inc., Tampa. Deputy Josh Whitwell reported there was more than $1,000 in damages.

Sherry L. Soyez, 31, 327 S. First Street, Marion, was southbound on Clover near 220th in a 2000 Subaru Outback station wagon at 6:45 a.m. Sept. 5, when she approached two deer standing in the roadway. The driver was unable to avoid hitting one of the deer. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported deputy Larry Starkey.

Erika R. Riggs, 16, 1094 X Ranch Road, Florence, was southbound on U.S.-77 at 12:30 a.m. Sept. 9, in a 1995 Jeep Cherokee when a cow came from an east ditch and was struck. Alycia Pontious, 17, 212 S. Fourth Street, Marion, was a passenger. The vehicle was owned by Richard D. Riggs, of the same address. Deputy Larry Starkey reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.

William D. Holder, 17, 610 E. Centennial, Goessel, was backing from a parking space at Goessel High School at 4:57 p.m. Sept. 9, in a 1965 Ford Mustang, and did not see a 1998 Ford Taurus driven by Ozro L. Estle, 59, Sabetha. The right rear corner of the Holder vehicle struck the front bumper of the Estle vehicle. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported deputy Larry Starkey.
