Ag communications class places first in commercial contest

The Centre High School Ag Communications and Leadership class recently took first place for a print advertisement entered in an FFA commercial competition sponsored by Garst Seed Co.

The first place showing resulted in a $1,000 donation to the Centre FFA chapter.

The purpose of the ad was to reflect the role FFA plays in developing skills for future leadership in agriculture, food, fiber, and other industries.

The ad was geared mainly to an urban audience. Students were judged on how well they incorporated the curriculum and how effectively the ad carried the intended message.

Participating students included Alisha Barney, Gloria Belton, Brandy Kaiser, and Jackie Klenda.

They were recognized at the Garst booth during the National FFA Convention.
