Alice Seibel

Alice Seibel, 87, died Sept. 18, 2004, at Hillsboro Community Medical Center.

Born Feb. 24, 1917, at Okeene, Okla., she was the daughter of Fred and Amelia Weigand. She was raised in Oklahoma.

In 1933, she married Edwin Seibel at Fairview, Okla. He died in 2000.

The couple lived in Marion for many years where they operated the Del Mar Café. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked at Duckwall's and was a cook at Marion Senior Center.

She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Marion.

She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers, and two sisters.

Survivors include a son, Donald of McPherson; a daughter, Pearl Helmer of Marion; three sisters, Loretta Elliott of Livingston, Texas, Evelyn Whittaker of Woodward, Okla., and Juanita Jarvis of Burlington; eight grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Sherfy officiating.

Burial was in Ebenfeld Cemetery, rural Hillsboro.

A memorial fund has been established with the church.
