Allisons observe anniversary

Keith and Claudia Allison were guests of honor Aug. 21 at a celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary at Marion Presbyterian Church.

The event was hosted by the congregation, family, and friends.

In honor of the interim minister and his wife, there was a revised ending to the regular morning worship service.

Selected scripture readings pertaining to marriage were read. A marriage blessing was given by the Rev. William Brewer of Wichita.

Regular hymns were replaced by a particular hymn selected for the event, and a solo by Erica Buller, accompanied by Mike Taylor and Mike Moran.

A reception was held during the coffee and fellowship time.

Michael Brookens sang a song special to the couple, "Tenderly." He was accompanied by Anita Brookens.

Michael then sang a more humorous song about growing old together and was accompanied by Bob Brookens.

A reading, "A Love Story," written by Claudia to her children and grandchildren, was read by Joyce Ford.

Claudia's wedding dress and several wedding photos were displayed.

Wedding cake, punch, and mints were served while the couple opened gifts from the congregation and visited with guests.
