Alvina Skibbe
Alvina Skibbe, 90, Newton, died May 26, 2008, at Newton Medical Center.
Born Dec. 22, 1917, in Marion County, she was the daughter of Henry and Mary (Hill) Bernhardt.
On April 25, 1939, she married Forrest Skibbe at Marion.
She worked as a nurse's aide at Wheat State Nursing Home, Whitewater.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Forrest; three sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include two sons, Darrel Skibbe of Newton and Jerald Skibbe of Greensburg; daughter, Jeannine Bateman of Marion; sister, Verla Mae Cott of Salina; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton, with Pastor Terry Tareila officiating.
Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery, Newton.
A memorial fund has been established with Asbury Park in care of the funeral home.
