Amanda Steiner does TV interviews, seeks sponsorships

Amanda Steiner is making a name for herself across the state as Ms. Wheelchair Kansas.

This past week she visited the state Capitol which included time with legislators.

Another perk of being the state spokesman for people who have disabilities was an interview on WIBW-TV. Ralph Hipp, who was one of the judges of the competition, introduced Amanda as "becoming the state's best-known advocate for people who have disabilities."

"We think you're going to be a terrific Ms. Wheelchair Kansas," Hipp said during the interview.

Amanda said that March was a busy month with events pre-planned for her. Now she is making her own plans which include speaking engagements and appearances.

Amanda's platform for her title has been accessible parking.

Hipp asked her if the station had accessible parking. Amanda responded that it did and overall the state is fairly accessible. She commented that smaller towns generally had the most challenges regarding accessible parking.

Amanda was able to get a plug in for Marion when she mentioned that was her hometown.

Amanda will travel to Rockville, Md., in July to compete in the national competition.

As part of her duties as Ms. Wheelchair Kansas, Amanda is seeking sponsorships to help defray costs associated with the national pageant.

Anyone wanting to become a sponsor may do so by contacting Tampa State Bank, 1100 E. Main, Marion.
