Anna Cather

Anna B. Cather, 94, died Jan. 20, 2005, at Marion Manor.

Born Aug. 9, 1910 at Hallett, Okla., she was the daughter of John and Anna (Schlais) Bejcek.

On April 22, 1926, she married William Cather. He died in 1984.

The couple farmed in Oklahoma and did contract floor covering work for businesses. She also was a clerk in a grocery store. They moved to Kansas in 1950, living in several areas before settling in Hillsboro in 1958 and opening their own floor covering business.

After retirement, the couple moved back to Oklahoma where they enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing, and traveling.

In 1991, she moved back to Marion. She was a member of the Cardin, Okla., Baptist Church, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Ina Mae.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Cather of Marion and Ben Cather of Richardson, Texas; two daughters, Rowena Harrold of Miami, Okla., and Norma Cox of Coon Rapids, Minn.; a brother, Albert Bejcek of Ponca City, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Zeiner Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Sherfy officiating.

Services were held Tuesday afternoon at First Baptist Church, Hallett, Okla., with Pastor Randy Alley officiating.

Grandchildren and great-grandchildren served as casket bearers.

Burial was in Bethany Cemetery, Hallett, Okla.

A memorial fund has been established with the VFW Post #6958 Ladies Auxiliary.
